Srila Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Gosvami Thakur Prabhupada says,
Aspiring to be greater than the Vaishnavas is not devotion, it is against devotion.
In material world, it is considered good to have a desire to become famous or successful. In other words success in material world is ascertained by the amount of money one has accumulated, however in spiritual world the success is ascertained by the %age of surrender one has unto Vaishanavas.
We should never try to overpower Vaishnavas and we should take absolute shelter of the Sadguru.
To attain proficiency in worldly activities is not Bhakti, Pure devotion is to take shelter of Vaishnavas.
